So, you want to build a website? That’s great! You need to find somewhere to hold your website files (web pages, image files, pdf files, whatever you need to put together your site) and you’re not sure where to go. Well, there are many places you can go… but there are a few things you need to consider.
Ease of Use
You bought a great website package, but how easy is it to use? How much do you need to learn if you’re not super web web savvy? How easy is it to instally wordpress or attach my purchased url/web address to my site?
Reliability
How reliable is the web host? Does it have an uptime guarantee if something goes wrong? Just so you know if a webhost lists a certain percentage of uptime (like 99.5% guarantee uptime) they have to, by law, adhere to that claim. Crazy, huh?
Customer Service
When something goes wrong with my site, and it’s not your fault that the site completely crashed (that you know of anyway) how easy can I contact someone and how reliable is the service? Can a sister get a 1800 number or an online helpdesk?
With that said, here is a list of web hosting companies for you to potentially consider. Some have great benefits, like allowing you to purchase a url and automatically attach it to a hosting package. Others have one step installation modules for wordpress and other content management systems. Some have incredibly good customer service. In the end though, they all do the same thing. Host web sites. And when you buy hosting, just make sure you buy a Linux based web hosting package. Linux servers are what you need for building WordPress sites.
